The new deadline for crane operator certification is now November 10, 2017. The original deadline had been November 10, 2014. However, after the crane and derricks in construction rule was published, many parties raised concerns. The rule required crane operators to meet 1 out of 4 options for certification.
The standard requirement to certify operators by capacity and type of crane. Many questioned whether or not this was adequate for determining and operator’s ability to operate cranes and derricks safely on a construction site.
